On August 4, 2021 the Trinity Lutheran Church Council posted a notice with the actions listed below regarding Covid-19 protections in the building.

  1. Recommend that all individuals in the building wear protective masks as per the recommendations of the CDC, the Minnesota Department of Health, and the St. Louis County Health Department.

  2. Provide masks for all individuals requesting one.

  3. Distribute communion in the individual containers.

  4. Discourage congregational singing.

These guidelines have been reviewed at each Council meeting since the posting, including the most recent meeting on Monday, November 15, 2021, and we have yet seen no reason to alter them. Every significant indicator of the rate of spread of Covid-19 locally has increased steadily since the August 4 posting.

The rate of new cases per day per 100K people in Minnesota has increased from 11.2 on Aug 4 to 78.6 on November 16, a 600% increase. The rate of Covid-19 deaths per day per 100K people has increased from 0.06 to 0.41 in the same time period, an increase of 583%. Both these indicators are still rising sharply. The local rates are probably higher than the state average. Minnesota now is the state with the highest rate of new Covid-19 cases in the nation.

This is not the time to loosen protections, but rather the time to take them more seriously. We would like to remind you to consider using reasonable precautions during Fellowship time. Coffee an’s do not stop Covid-19 transmission. When unmasked for eating, please remember social distance.

The council remains committed to maintaining an environment for safe worship and ministry. The actions listed in Aug 4 posting will remain in effect until the Covid-19 threat is greatly diminished. We greatly appreciate your support in trying to prevent the spread of this deadly disease. We pray for the day when the Covid-19 threat is over.
